Communication policy

The Council register for December 4th included a Council statement about the Commission's communication "Communicating Europe in Partnership" concerning a European Union's information and communication strategy. The statement includes a questionnaire to be discussed on Dec. 18th which is of great relevance to all our work.
Perhaps we will be consulted too eventually....

Well spotted, Patrick!
I see the questionnaire will be discussed by the Council’s Working Party on Information on
18 December.
Amongst the questions which Member States’ representatives are asked to consider are:
- “Do you agree with the principles of [the Commission’s] communication …?”
- “Is there scope for [better linking] national and European parliamentarians? How could it be done? What areas could be covered?”
- “How could the link between the authorities of your Member State and the Commission Representation / European Parliament Information Office become more efficient?”
- “Are you in favour of the definition of priority information topics and how?”
- “Are you in favour of the conclusion of an Interinstitutional agreement in the field of communication on Europe?”
It will be interesting to learn what the Member States’ views are.
